Return to Frankfurt Summer Program
Along the Zeil, one of Germany's busiest retail streets, you'll find great shopping and in the evening dance clubs, and music bars galore, the possibilities for nightlife are endless. Frankfurters love jazz, and the city offers more jazz clubs than many cities in America.
Food is very important to the people of Hessen, the federal state that Frankfurt belongs to. It's no strange coincidence that the city's main causeway is referred to as Freßgass, Glutton Alley. Here we will provide you with information on the specialties in Frankfurt gourmet and fast food restaurants, cafes, bars and on traditions in these places. For more information, you can visit our Frankfurt Restaurant Guide.
The typical Hesse drink is Ebbelweii , cider served in jugs called Bembel. (One of the most well-known Ebbelwei or Äppler wine producing companies is Possmann). With almost 48.000 students, Frankfurt's nightlife is sure to have something for everyone: discos, nightclubs and bars of all kinds and in all districts of the city strive to attract people looking to have a good time and hoping to enjoy the night.
During the winter, skies are almost always covered in clouds and the weather is coldest in January. During this time of the year temperatures range between –10 and 10 degrees Celsius (14 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit). If you’re in town during the winter season you will need rainproof and warm clothing.
