"My three weeks in Nice was incredible!

I had chosen this program with the hope that I would be more prepared for the upcoming year of AP French, but I ended up getting so much more. Not only did I learn MORE French than I had anticipated, I was able to apply what I learned in class by interacting with some of the locals (les Nicois!) also.

The classes were challenging, but a lot of fun, and we had plenty of free time in the afternoon to go to the beach, shopping, or sightseeing after classes had ended for the day. Some nights, we had planned events, like a discotheque, but others, we could explore the city with a few friends, or hang out at the residence.

The activities planned for us were great! They are so varied from day to day that there is always something for us to do. My favorite activities were going to the outdoor cinema to watch a movie, going to the discotheques, and going to other nearby cities (Antibes, Cannes).

Be sure to try everything at least once and take advantage of the fact that you are in an unfamiliar environment by stepping a little bit outside of your comfort zone. Be sure to take a lot of pictures too because you'll definitely want to look back and remember everything about your trip!

"This experience was a once in a life time opportunity. It was my first time in Europe and I learned so many new things about European culture and oddities that you can't find out through a textbook. I made so many new friends from across the world and I will remember them for the rest of my life. The coolest part is that if I decide to go to another country later, I know that I always have friends to stay with.
Future Advice: I would recommend staying with a host family if you could, and to just make as many friends as possible. Try to speak the language a lot, and definitely enjoy yourself."

"A great opportunity to immerse in French culture and language while making new friends from all parts of the world. General Impression: It was good. Could have done a better job placing me in the right level. My first week was review of grammar (my strength) when my weakness is vocabulary. Pushed to get into the next level (which happened during week 2). I learned so much the second week and wish I would have started my week 2 class on day one."

Some nights, we had planned events, like a discotheque, but others, we could explore the city with a few friends, or hang out at the residence.

The “teamers” were strict about curfew, but otherwise, we were given a good level of independence. The best part of the program was the other students. I met students from all over the world and became fast friends with many of them though our common interest in the French language.

Living in the residence was a great experience. The teamers (Fanny and Meike) were so fun, nice, and friendly I immediately felt at home. I liked that there were two separate residences because I got to know the people in my residence really well. I would have liked however, if the residence assignments were based on age. The setup of our residence was really nice-- we had a common room with a TV and most of the rooms had a balcony that looked over a big patio. <p.></p.>

My teacher (Elizabeth) was so nice and she worked really hard to make class interesting and fun. I liked that my morning classes were mostly grammar and my intensive classes were mostly speaking/ listening. The staff was very nice and I liked that fact that most of them were young. Vladimir did a great job of helping us get accommodated and he gave us a good level of independence.

The activities planned for us were great! They are so varied from day to day that there is always something for us to do. My favorite activities were going to the outdoor cinema to watch a movie, going to the discotheques, and going to other nearby cities (Antibes, Cannes).

Future Advice: Keep an open mind! You might feel completely out of place and lost at first, but you'll start making new friends, learning a ton of French, and enjoying the city in no time. Be sure to try everything at least once and take advantage of the fact that you are in an unfamiliar environment by stepping a little bit outside of your comfort zone. Be sure to take a lot of pictures too because you'll definitely want to look back and remember everything about your trip!

Teenagers Abroad gave great support in setting up Yoojin's three weeks in Nice. The web site and brochure are very informative and were helpful in making our decision to send Yoojin through this program. We feel that Teenagers Abroad was very concerned about the safety and well- being of our daughter while in Nice and the staff was very reassuring."

"It was a great experience and I would definitely do it over again. The atmosphere was relaxed and chilled out which was good. It was organized and well planned out. Homestay family, was in the middle of Nice so that was very convenient, the 'mom' of the family was wonderful, friendly, and very nice.

Future Advice: go with a positive attitude and an open mind. Try all new things."

"It's a great way to meet fellow students participating in the program. I met people from all over the world. Truly, Languages Abroad has provided the best cultural experience in my life."

"The French program in Nice was GREAT!!!!!! I could not have been happier about the city, culture, the people, the accommodation and the great school. Both the director and the professors where of great help. I loved the whole immersion experience.

I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. It is a great place for begginers to experience the French language. The excursions where also great and they gave us the oppurtunity to experience all of the Cote d'azur or French Riviera. I would definetly recommend this place to anyone. I will also gladly go back with a program like this!"

"It was a great way to meet different people from all parts of the world. The classes were undertaken in an easy going nature which made it easier to learn. Staff were very friendly and the website is very informative!"

"The language instructors, the host family, and the location were great! I only spent a month in country, however, due to the home stay option I was able to truly immerse myself in the language. Languages abroad was very helpful and accommodating. The staff was friendly and accessible by phone and email. The people at the school were very friendly and really made excellent attempts at providing activities to foster friendships and cultural immersion.

Future Advice: Sign up as early as possible if you want to get a good home stay option. The school determines the location by the date that you sign up. Thus, the best locations go early."
