Spend your summer in BARCELONA
on the East coast of Spain, enjoy a full schedule of sports, leisure, cultural activities and excursions with other international students of the same age....

The exciting & stylish city of Barcelona offers a wide variety of colourful and intricate architecture created by the world famous Antoni Gaudí. The Gothic Neighbourhood, and the pedestrian street "Las Ramblas" make this city a traveller's and art lover's paradise. Its history is beautifully reflected in the famous "Barrio Gótico", the old town district known as the Gothic Quarter for the treasures house of Gothic monuments found there.

It is the site of both historic monuments and modern institutions. It is also the mecca of Spain for modern art and theatre lovers. Students can admire the work of Picasso, Miró and visit the famous "Sagrada Familia" while participating in one of the many organized cultural activities.

Barcelona hosts many festivals during the summer months. These include the Grec Festival at the Theatre Grec, classical music festivals at the Palau de la Música at the end of September, and the very important "Mercé" celebration, which commemorates the patron saint of the city.

If you like to walk, Barcelona offers a wide selection of parks and gardens. a trip to the beach or the mountains rising up behind the city, is only 25 minutes away.

Our school is located in one of the best and safest zones of Barcelona next to Avinguda Diagonal the core of Barcelona's shopping district and Francesc Maci / Maria Cristina squares, both vibrant parts of the city. This area is also home to several universities and is commonly referred to "Zona Universitària".

Housed in a beautiful modern campus close (200 meters) to a supermarket, stores, public swimming pool, chemist and only (300 meters) from the local subway.

Our campus offers excellent modern facilities including large air conditioned classrooms, modern buffet dining room, computer room with internet access, on site library, laundry services, games room, fully equipped gym, sports track and many social lounges & areas.

It offers a comfortable atmosphere in modern surroundings with a maximum capacity of 200+ students.

Additional information about our Campus

Spanish classes are also held in our beautiful modern campus in the residence building.

We also have another school building in Barcelona where older students study in the summer located in the in "El Barrio Gothico" beside the Cathedral and is only a 5 minute walk from the well known "Las Ramblas" district. Students may also use these facilities if required.

International student body:
We expect 70% of students attending to be non native English speakers, mainly coming from around Europe / 30% will be English speakers from North America & UK. These numbers are estimated based on 2007 enrollments!

This program is an excellent option for Spanish High school groups of 10 or more students travelling and study together. For more information on our Teenagers Abroad Groups Services and Options, please click on this link: GroupsAbroad.com

Standard program: (20 lessons per week)
Intensive program: (30 lessons per week)

Receive transferable credits for this course (if required)

Lessons are in a max. group of 15 students (average 8), lessons are 45 minutes in length with small breaks between every 2 lessons. If you are attending the intensive program, students will break for lunch before continuing the additional lessons in the afternoon.

The first day of the program is dedicated to welcome students, to test students' language levels and to make sure everyone is familiar with the school policies, the premises and the area.

On the first day of school a placement test is administered to determine the student's level of Spanish. This way, students can start lessons straight away after they have been placed at the appropriate level. If a student is an absolute beginner, they do not have to take a test, and they can start lessons immediately.

Lessons are taught in Castillian Spanish, not the Catalan that is spoken by the locals. Please note that although Catalan is spoken by many native speakers in the area, most people undersand and speak standard (or Castillian) Spanish. Classes are normally held in the mornings Monday to Friday.

Number of students attending:
We expect the following students numbers, each week during the following dates:
June 30 - 50 / July 80 - 100 / August 70 - 90
These numbers are estimated based on 2007!

After classes are over for the day, our program allows the student plenty of time for sports, cultural and social activities. It also allows the student to make new international friends among their new classmates, experience cultural activities together and practice their new language.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"I had the best time. The team leaders were wonderful.

Barcelona is the best. Kids were great from all over the world. The lessons were very good. There was ample freedom to explore. The dorm residence was closeby and accomodations were great. I would have liked to have a fan in the room as it was very hot".

BARCELONA SUMMER 2007

________________________________

"I had an amazing time. I met some really great people and got to see a different side of the world while being immersed in the language.

I would definitely recommend this program to anyone who wants to do something memorable, exciting and even educational! Living in the residence was very fun. Having a maid and a chef everyday made it feel like you were almost in a hotel - but not!

I really liked my teacher, but I think the organization of placing students into different levels could use improvement. For the first week i was in a class with kids who were pretty low level of Spanish, and with some who were way better. The slower kids tended to slow the class down".
