Since the Middle Ages, Frankfurt-am-Main, which is located on the banks of the River Main, has been a crossroads for European trade and commerce and the official venue for imperial coronations.
It is also home to one of the world's finest ballet ensembles and hosts international guest performances of the highest order on a regular basis. The city's numerous theatres and the concert house Alte Oper offer Frankfurt's stage aficionados and lovers of fine arts a comprehensive and diverse program of events. At the same time, Frankfurt am Main is a metropolis for techno and dance-floor music.
Our school is housed in a large modern 8 storey building on three large floors with excellent facilities. The school reception is on the ground floor (picture above) with a small terrace area outside. The reception area also acts as a student social area with snack area's & coffee machines. The other school floors are reached by elevator.
Our school has a fantastic mix of international students from around the world, the main nationalities include German, English, North Americans, Scandinavian, Dutch, Italian and Japanese.
The first day of the program is dedicated to welcome students, to test students' language levels and to make sure everyone is familiar with the school policies, the premises and the area.
On the first day of school a placement test is administered to determine the student's level of German. This way, students can start lessons straight away after they have been placed at the appropriate level. If a student is an absolute beginner, they do not have to take a test, and they can start lessons immediately.
Many families are located in Sachsenhausen and within walking distance of the school howewer other families could be located 25 minutes by public transit from the school. The Host Family accommodation is therefore recommended for more mature students with previous international travel experience.
The family provides 3 meals daily, with a packed lunch that is usually eaten with the other students and teachers at the school. The families are normally located around 25 minutes travelling distance (normally by local public transit) from the school and town center.
Curfew: 22:00 if there are no accompanied evening activties with school staff.
The residence offers multishared rooms (some with bunk beds) and common bathrooms on each floor. Bedlinen is provided but students should bring towels.
