Study FRENCH or GERMAN
in LES SCIERNES in the Swiss Pre-Alpes
enjoy a full schedule of sports, leisure, cultural activities and excursions all year round....

Located in the Western part of Switzerland, about 90 minutes from Geneva, you will discover the small village of Les Sciernes in the Swiss Pre-Alpes.

Les Sciernes is a typical, charming Swiss village - clean and very safe, a few houses in the area have sheep grazing in the yard. There are a couple of hotels, few shops and restaurants, a doctor's office - all surrounded by beautiful alpine scenery.

This area of Switzerland is dotted with typical Swiss chalets, green pastures, farms and alpine flora and fauna abound. The region is also known for its hiking and mountain biking trails, making it a popular destination for many looking for an active and healthy educational holiday.

The region, school and programs are ideal for students looking to experience Switzerland all year round. There is a group winter program offered to groups, so please contact us if you would like to organize a group to Les Sciernes outside of the summer period.

During the Winter months, Switzerland is truly a winter wonderland, which has to be experienced, to be fully appreciated. The winter school offers the perfect opportunity to combine work and play: intensive language lessons in the morning, are followed by skiing or snowboarding in the afternoons, in the Gstaad Ski Region.

This is truly the ideal location to study either the French or German language and experience all Switzerland has to offer!

Overlooking the picturesque Swiss village of Les Sciernes in the heart of the Swiss PreAlpes, our camp is surrounded by incredible views of the surrounding mountains and scenery.

Our camp is located in its own campus grounds only 10 minutes by public transport from the village. A family-run organization, our camp offers a family atmosphere and the family live ON site all year round.

The camp is a hive of activity for hundreds of students throughout the year! Thanks to its south facing position and large French windows in almost every room, the school building enjoys an enormous amount of space and light.

The school building is a magnificent and charming large 4-storey building with elevator. It offers many large social areas with excellent facilities and large classrooms. Students can relax on the school terraces and in the large grounds after class.

International student body:
Our students average age is between 12 to 15 & 60% of our students are girls. We expect 85% of students attending to be non native English speakers, mainly coming from: 70% Europe, 10% South America & 5% Asia.

International students of similar age are split into groups for language study and for social and cultural activities. Students come from around the world to study either German, french or English at the camp and also live and socialize together after class.

Our course is designed to ensure that students enjoy their language classes as much as they enjoy the rest of the course program, so classroom activities are therefore varied, involve tasks or games that make the learning process interesting and fun.

The school method is to focus more on the individual and on using the language. We concentrate more on oral work and building confidence to speak and use the language.

After classes are over for the day, our program allows the student plenty of time for the full program of activities and excursions. It also allows the student to make new international friends among their new classmates, experience cultural activities together and practice their new language skills.

In the evenings, additional activities and sports will be organized to keep the students entertained, these will include talent competitions, games, arts and craft activities, tennis, horse riding, volleyball, basketball, treasure hunts, soccer, swimming, billards, rafting, canyoning, discos, table tennis, hiking and drama workshops. For student departures there is a final Friday night disco every week with a prize presentation ceremony.

Examples of social and cultural activities

School residence: (shared rooms) with 3 meals daily.
( All students stay in the campus residence )

The student accommodation is located within the school building with the first floor being the girls accommodation and the second floor for the boys. Students share shower rooms and toilets which are located on each floor.

Students are forbidden under any circumstances from visiting the accommodation level of the opposite sex, to do so is immediate expulsion and staff members stay on each floor at night.

The residence offers twin, triple and quadruple rooms. The majority of rooms have French windows leading out onto large south facing balconies, pleasant for sun-bathing in both summer and winter or admiring the breath-taking views.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"The camp is surrounded by mountains (so I had beautiful views).

Rooms are fine, staff members are really nice. Meals are different than in my country but they are OK. I spent three weeks of great fun. I met many nice people, both the staff members and the students.

I visited so many interesting places (like chcocolate factory) and in the same time I made my French better. Swiss Alps are so beautiful that I fall in love with them."
Emilia & Witold
