Study FRENCH in LEYSIN
in the Swiss Alpes
enjoy a full schedule of sports, leisure, cultural activities and excursions all year round....

Leysin, situated at an altitude of 1263 m. in French speaking Switzerland, is in the very heart of Europe and the jewel of the Alpes Vaudoises. This area enjoys an exceptional amount of sunshine which makes it an ideal place for year-round outdoor activities.

The village has succeeded in the combination between traditional charm and the vibrancy of a world-famous international and cosmopolitan winter/summer holiday center.

Whether an active sports enthusiast, or simply desiring peaceful relaxation on one of Leysin's famous sunny terraces, this charming resort is safe and friendly, ideal for teenagers learning abroad!

Leysin is a traditional alpine village, steeped in centuries of Swiss tradition. Students will have the opportunity to discover the warmth of its inhabitants, as well as its culture and customs as they observe the local cheese-makers at work and the local folk markets.

In summer, these excursions offer opportunities for a range of water sports and visits to the swimming pool.

Our school campus is located in the heart of the village in a very modern building, which offers spectacular views over the Alps.

All facilities are within a few minutes walk and include: local shops, swimming pool, climbing wall, tennis and squash courts, fitness center, mountain chair lifts and many other amenities.

Students study in comfortable, bright classrooms with a view and the Center also has a recreation room, cinema, private disco, large dining hall for meals and sunny social rooms offer spectacular views over the Alps.

The main goal of the program is to awake students’ interest in learning a language. We achieve this, first of all, by creating a young and dynamic atmosphere in our lessons with topics that really motivate the students.

Moreover, parallel activities complement the study work wonderfully by familiarizing students with the spontaneous use of what they learned in the classroom.

International student body:
Maximum capacity of camp: 150 students. We expect 85% of students attending to be non native English speakers, mainly from German or Italian speaking areas of Switzerland & the rest of Europe.

School facilities include:
Bright large classrooms
Several social areas & terraces
Computer room with internet access
Dining areas - meals served on campus
TV room & lecture theatre
On campus accommodation with live in staff
Doctor is on-call 24 hours a day

This program is an excellent option for closed school groups of 10 or more students travelling and studying together. For more information on our Teenagers Abroad Groups Services and Options, please click on this link: GroupsAbroad.com

Summer French Program: 4 group lessons daily
Class size: max of 14 students per class

The program is adapted to all levels and allows each student to improve his grammatical skills and develop his communication skills alongside his understanding of written and spoken French. Our principal strategy involves four important stages: discovery, improvement, revision and progression.

The lessons are given by teachers who are enthusiastic and readily available and who will also be with the pupils during their out-of-school activities.

This will allow teachers and pupils to enjoy a different kind of rapport from that normally established in a school context, and will allow the teachers to talk with pupils in a more relaxed way during leisure activities - in the language being studied.

On arrival, the participants take a placement test which will allow them to be placed in relevant groups with corresponding language levels. Each student will, therefore study in a class corresponding to his own level in the foreign language.

At the end of the course, each student receives a certificate confirming the progress achieved. It also attests that the students has participated in a language course and indicates the level and grades obtained. Depending on the student’s level, the schedule of lessons set out above may alter significantly.

It also allows the student to make new international friends among their new classmates, experience cultural activities together and practice their new language skills in real life situations.

After classes are over for the day, our program allows the student plenty of time for the full program of activities and excursions. Sports facilities are a few minutes walk away and outings are organised to discover the Lake Léman region in more depth.

In the evenings, additional activities and sports will be organized to keep the students entertained, these will include competitions, games, discos, swimming. Additional activities (tennis, curling, horse riding, Aquaparc, shopping in Lausanne etc.) can be booked separately on site.

Full day excursions are organised on Sundays trips to Montreux/Vevey, Le Bouveret or Gruyères, for example. Visit one of the region’s museums, such as the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, the Alimentarium in Vevey, or the famous Chateau de Chillon.

Example of social and cultural activities

School residence: (shared rooms) with 3 meals daily.
(All students stay in the campus residence)

The residence is located within the school building Center and offers comfortable shared accommodation in rooms with 2 or 3 beds, each room has its own private bathroom.

Students are assigned according to age and gender. The camp teachers reside on the same floor as the students and provide 24-hour supervision. A night supervisor is also present to ensure a quiet and safe atmosphere.

The students have full access to the Center facilities, including Internet access during free time.

Meals are served in the spacious campus dining room:dishes are traditional Swiss cuisine & international dishes are prepared for special events.

The school offers a laundry service after the first two weeks for a very small fee and the bed linen is washed by the school, with no fee. A school telephone is available at the Center during restricted hours. Students can make calls home using international phone cards which are available for sale on-site.

NOTE: Teenagers over the age of 16 years of age with specific written authorization of a parent or legal guardian, will be allowed to leave the campus grounds a couple of times per week, with a curfew of 11pm.
