Spend your summer in LIGNANO
on the Adriatic Sea, enjoy a full schedule of sports, leisure, cultural activities and excursions with other international students of the same age....

Our Italian summer camp is located in Lignano, situated to the South of Friuli, between Venice and Trieste, Lignano is a peninsula stretching in to the Adriatic Sea.

Lignano is a popular destination for Europeans and it offers mild, healthy climate and outstanding facilities for sport and entertainment. With its lively atmosphere and excellent amenities, it provides the ideal environment for study and leisure.

Lignano is divided in 3 great areas: Lignano Sabbiadoro: the tip of the peninsula, the heart of entertainment, full of life and irresistible attractions for children and adults.

Lignano Pineta: the green area of the city, a relaxing place in perfect harmony with the vegetation to which it owes its name. Lignano Riviera: the most modern part of the city, where the new boat marina and dockyards are located. The Zoo, the “Aquasplash" water park and fun fair is also nearby.

Lignano has an extensive 8 km golden beach with calm shallow water. Around the beach area a wide variety of games take place, volleyball, bowls, tennis andsoccer. Sporting equipment can be rented, for all types of water sports: Paddle boats, surfboards, sailing boats, canoes, etc.

On the outskirts of Lignano is Marano Lagoon which is well known for its extensive pine forest and farm land. If you would like to travel further a field, Venice, Verona, Trieste, Aquileia and Cividale are all nearby.

Our summer school campus could not be better located. It is situated on a peaceful, secure and quite stunning pine wood area, which opens out to the private beach and the beautiful waters of the Adriatic Sea.

Located in center of a larger residential village called the "Villaggio Adriatico" which also hosts holiday programs for Italian teenagers during the summer months, offering our students the opportunity to interact with the Italian teenagers in activities and by sharing rooms with them in the residence accommodation.

Our campus has an extensive pinewood park, a wide stretching private beach, numerous sport facilities such as a swimming pool, basketball court, sand volleyball and tennis courts. It is the perfect setting to have outdoor classes and to organize sports and leisure activities.

Italian summer program: (25 lessons per week)
- max of 12 students per class

Our junior courses have a balanced program of Italian language tuition combined with carefully supervised sport, creative leisure activities and excursions. Students learn quickly in this stimulating atmosphere. Teachers and instructors will encourage and motivate the student to develop Italian skills.

The first day of the program is dedicated to welcome students, to test students' Italian language levels and to make sure everyone is familiar with the school policies, the campus and area.

On the first day of school a placement test is administered to determine the student's level of Italian. This way, students can start lessons straight away after they have been placed at the appropriate level. If a student is an absolute beginner, they do not have to take a test, and they can start lessons immediately.

Italian lessons involve speaking, listening, reading and writing in lively and informal small classes with no more than 12 students in a group. Our teachers are all highly qualified and are carefully selected for their experience in teaching young learners. By choosing professional and committed teachers we ensure that the lessons are effective, interesting and fun.

In addition to morning classes of Italian language there are afternoon and evening programs of sports and leisure activities, tailored to the interests of the age groups. The instructors will encourage our students to practice their Italian as they work with them to develop new skills in the afternoon activity sessions.

Students are divided in groups according to their age and entrusted to a group leader:

Junior program (aged 10-13) - activities are related to students' age, under strict control all the day round: we provide comprehensive supervision and children cannot move unaccompanied. In addition to the weekly excursion we include 3 activities out of the village: a visit to a shopping centre, a funfair evening, and a walk along the promenade. Lights out no later than 10 p.m.

Teenager program (aged 14 - 16) - activities are related to students' age and according to their wishes and expectations, under strict control all the day round. Youngsters are allowed to move independently in the resort, but tutors prevent them from smoking and drinking alcohol. In addition to the weekly excursion we arrange activities out of the village. On these occasions tutors allow students to walk autonomously in a certain area, fixing several appointments to control their movements. Lights out no later than 11 p.m.

Moving from one age group to another must be expressly requested by the parents and authorized by the Director of the Camp. The above grouping does not apply to the Italian Course, where students are grouped in classes according to their level of Italian.

Number of students attending:
We expect 100+ students each week during the summer program:
These numbers are estimated based on 2007!

After classes are over for the day, our program allows the student plenty of time for sports, cultural and social activities. During the activities students will mingle with Italian youngsters of the age residing at the center. This will stimulate Italian language practice and new friendships.

Example of weekly social and cultural activities

Residence: (shared rooms) 3 meals daily.
This option is for all students 10-16 years old.

Students share rooms in our residence according to age and gender. Students sleep in triple rooms with private bathroom and will share their room with students of different nationalities.

All meals are served on campus at the residence restaurant. From the time our young guests wake up they will enjoy excellent Italian cooking. Three hot buffet meals are provided every day in the residence restaurant.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

""In Italy I had the time of my life.

The camp was a lot of fun and I made wonderful friends who I will always keep in touch with. Thinking about my time in Lignano makes me smile, I wouldn't trade the experience I had for anything. The accommodation was good, comfortable and always clean.

The Teenagers Abroad staff were always helpful with whatever questions I had before I left. In some cases they responded the same day.

The website was very informative, and gave a good description of what to expect. Everything was awesome. The staff was really friendly, and classes were interesting.

The other students were all great and the location of the school was ideal, being so close to Venice and the beach."
PAUL B. (age 16)
