Spend your summer on the French Riviera on the door step of monte Carlo, enjoy a full schedule of sports, leisure, cultural activities and excursions with other international students....

Lying at the heart of the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur) and situated on the doorstep of monte Carlo, our school is located in the small village of Cap d'Ail, only 3 km from monaco and 15 Km away from both Nice and Italy.

Set on the Mediterranean coast of France just a few miles from the monaco border, the Côte d'Azur is one of the most visited parts of France, famous for its sun-drenched beaches and warm waters of the Mediterranean. It is also a fabled playground of the rich and famous and has been the passion and the death of many a famous artists: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Picasso and Renoir.

Cap d'Ail (pop. 5000), overlooks a relaxed 3.6 km stretch of coastal walk adorned with Mediterranean flora, geological features and an ancient millstone quarry. It has three beaches: The Marquet Beach, family beach perfect for sports activities (Wind surfing, Tennis, Catamaran, Deep sea diving) and where the Amphitheater by the sea will satisfy your cultural inclinations.

The Mala Beach, a true Mediterranean grotto, the steep coral covered rocky cliffs give an amber hue to the salty sea below. The Pointe des Douaniers Beach, a steep rock rises out of the Mediterranean sea with its characteristic colors bearing witness to the volcano it once was, erupting many millions of years ago.

Nearby the the commune of La Turbie looks down over the Principality of monaco from its high rocky mountain perch and offers a magnificent view of the Italian Riviera and the Esterel.

La Turbie, an authentic medieval village, steeped in history, owes its fame to its trophy of Augustus monument.Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is one of the true pearls of the Côte d’Azur. This beach resort is famous world-wide for its magnificent peninsula which can be discovered by taking one of the various walks along its coastal footpaths.

Also nearby is monaco (monte Carlo is only 10 minutes by bus) which is second only to the Vatican as the smallest independent state in Europe. The country is a narrow ribbon of coastline backed by the Alpes-Maritimes foothills, creating a natural amphitheater overlooking the sea.

Our school has over 50 years' experience in teaching French and hosting young people of different backgrounds and over 60 different nationalities.

During the summer months, the school accommodates about 400 students every year, with a maximum of 200 students attending the program at one time. The program combines studies in both French language and culture with a vast choice of sporting, cultural and recreational activities that serve to facilitate intercultural exchange of young people.

Both the director of the school and all the monitors hold qualifications from France's Ministry of Youth Sports, and live on the campus to oversee all activities.

Our school is perched over the towns of Cap D'Ail (France) and monaco Ville (monaco) and offers beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea. The campus measures 3.5 hectares and offers a picturesque park that enjoys expansive terraces and mature well kept gardens with an abundance of flowers and trees.

The waterfront is a 20-minute walk from the campus and is mainly due to the fact that the campus is located on top of a steep incline. At the foot of the incline, students can swim in a large public sea pool and the camp staff also take them by bus to other popular swimming beaches on camp excursions in the afternoons which are about 15 minutes by bus from the camp.

Standard summer French program: (15 lessons per week)- max of 12 students per class

French lessons will take place in either in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the day's schedule, from Monday to Friday. Students practice grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and oral comprehension in structured lessons. Emphasis is placed on using the language in real-life situations outside the school, spoken communication and participating in interesting language games.

Classes are taught by qualified teachers who are also native speakers of the language. They use the "communicative method" of teaching which combines all aspects and skills of language such as grammar, conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, listening and writing, in an interactive way that makes language learning interesting and meaningful This is attained with the help of teaching materials that have been specially designed and developed for each age group.

Our courses are a good foundation for the preparation of the DELF. Satisfying attendance is rewarded by a certificate at the end of one's stay.

After classes are over for the day, our program allows the student plenty of time for our sports and social activities on the camp. It also allows the student to make new international friends among their new classmates, experience cultural activities together and practice their new language skills in real life situations.

The following activities complete the daily program: cooking, films, folk dancing, barbecues, tournaments, magic performances, circus, concerts at the amphitheater, art workshops, mini-sporting tournaments and to end the evening - disco.

Example of weekly cultural activities

Students will receive a weekly calendar of events upon arrival, highlighting the activities and excursions being offered for the upcoming week. The exact schedule varies weekly, depending on weather, student interest in a particular activity and seasonal events or festivities going on at the time.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Upon my arrival to montecarlo, I was met by wonderful people who worked for the school who immediately spoke to me in French. I had a many opportunities to speak French and see the city of montecarlo. I loved my host family and the school and the activities.

Besides speaking French, the best part was meeting people from around the world and getting close to them. It's a wonderful experience. The location was wonderful for me because it was is a predominately French speaking neighborhood, and I was really interested in speaking French as much as possible.

My host home was comfortable, close to metro and buses, and my host mom cooked all the time. I didn't get to see my host family as much as I wanted due to our schedules but for me the accommodation was fine. The family experience was very cool although we had a few cultural conflicts and diffrences.

The school was great. It did a good job of balancing "school" and activities. The location was great because they were both right off the metro and in close proximity to shops, restaurants, etc. The monitors were amazing. Very cool, friendly, personable. Acitives were cool. I enjoyed them a lot. Especially rock climbing and hanging in the park.
Ashley McCullough (age 17)
