Spend your summer in MONTREAL
in French speaking Canada, enjoy a full schedule of sports, leisure, cultural activities and excursions with other international students....

The second largest French speaking city in the world, Montreal carries on the European tradition of keeping culture within the reach of the people. Most of the city's many festivals include free admission for open-air events that keep the streets filled with music, laughter and creativity.

Every summer for 11 days, Montreal hosts the world's largest jazz festival, with 400 concerts and the biggest stars of the international jazz community. The Just For Laughs Comedy Festival began as a two night French language comedy show and has grown to an event that lasts almost two weeks and draws more than 470,000 people.

It's always a festive occasion when the traveling circus troupe Cirque du Soleil returns home to Montreal with its mesmerizing crew of fire eaters, jugglers, acrobats, clowns and artists.

Downtown lies between the mountain and Old Montreal, which was the heart of the city until the end of the nineteenth century. Today, its charming buildings are filled with boutiques, bars and restaurants, and visitor’s and locals promenade along the adjacent Old Port.

The nearby islands in the St. Lawrence - Ile Ste-Hélène and Ile Notre-Dame - were the site of the Expo 67 World Fair, and now comprise the city's largest park. The other tourist must see is the legacy of another international event: the 1976 Summer Olympics. The Big 'O' (the Olympic Stadium) has the world's tallest inclined tower, and is next door to the city's Botanical Garden.

The 'real' Montreal, though, exists in neighborhoods that celebrate their ethnic origins like Little Italy and Chinatown, and especially the multicultural Plateau Mont-Royal. Boulevard St-Laurent ('The Main'), which runs through the Plateau and divides Montreal into east and west, is the city's most lively street.

Montreal is well represented in all the traditional manifestations of high culture - symphony, opera and ballet - but truly stands out in experimental theater and contemporary dance. One of its most notable exports is the internationally acclaimed Cirque du Soleil who still occasionally performs in Montreal.

Our Summer language program combines effective small group language courses combined with an adventure in Canadian culture and lifestyle.

Our school is located in the heart of Montréal, on Ste-Catherine Street which is Montreal's indisputable main street. It offers great shopping, restraurants, deli's, cafes & more!

The 3 major universities representing a total of roughly 90,000 students are located on or adjacent to Ste-Catherine Street: Concordia, McGill and the Université du Québec à Montréal and close to Montreal's largest entertainment complex - the Pepsi Forum.

Housed in a modern five storey building, overlooking a glass-roofed courtyard of a popular shopping mall it has all the modern facilities of a large international school. It is also located only two blocks from a subway line, making it easy for students to get around the city and experience life in this bilingual city.

Monitors supervise our young students during the afternoon programs. They also act as guides on afternoon outings and as team leaders for sports. The Monitors are chosen for their experience working with or leading young people in group settings. All transportation and fees are included in the program.

School facilities include:
Great central location
Common Rooms with TV & sport facilities
Large modern classrooms with AC
Free internet access in computer lab
Cafeteria and snack bar on site
Library & student resource center

International student body:
We expect 80% of students attending to be non native English speakers, from Latin America, Europe & Asia / 20% will be English speakers from North America & UK. The average student age is 15/16. Estimated based on 2007 enrollments!

This program is an excellent option for French school groups of 10 or more students travelling and study together. For more information on our Teenagers Abroad Groups Services and Options, please click on this link: GroupsAbroad.com

After classes are over for the day, students have a supervised lunch at the school, relax and prepare for our afternoon program of activities, which normally last through to 16.00, daily.

Activities are designed for teenagers and offer a balanced blend of activities which introduce students to the city and its culture as well as providing them with many opportunities to participate in sports. Montreal is host to several festivals, artistic and cultural events. The planned schedule takes advantage of Montreal's many attractions so that you can enjoy the best summer has to offer.

Additional optional evening & weekend activities are also offered at an extra cost - see PDF's below.

Our full-time program monitors guide students on all afternoon activities to ensure that our young clients are well supervised.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Upon my arrival to Montreal, I was met by wonderful people who worked for the school who immediately spoke to me in French. I had a many opportunities to speak French and see the city of Montreal. I loved my host family and the school and the activities.

Besides speaking French, the best part was meeting people from around the world and getting close to them. It's a wonderful experience. The location was wonderful for me because it was is a predominately French speaking neighborhood, and I was really interested in speaking French as much as possible.

My host home was comfortable, close to metro and buses, and my host mom cooked all the time. I didn't get to see my host family as much as I wanted due to our schedules but for me the accommodation was fine. The family experience was very cool although we had a few cultural conflicts and diffrences.

The school was great. It did a good job of balancing "school" and activities. The location was great because they were both right off the metro and in close proximity to shops, restaurants, etc. The monitors were amazing. Very cool, friendly, personable. Acitives were cool. I enjoyed them a lot. Especially rock climbing and hanging in the park.
Ashley McCullough (age 17)
