The world-famous coffee houses allow visitors to relax over pastries topped with “Schlag” (whipped cream). Though Vienna may seem straight-laced and gracefully aloof, it frequently lets its longhair tradition down-and nowhere as freely as at the Heuriger in Grinzing, or in the "Bermuda Triangle", in mid-city.
This program has been designed for students who would like to learn German but also enjoy a schedule of activities in and around Vienna. The program allows the student to mix with other international students from around the world and local students, of the same age.
The building and grounds was once a former summer residence of Emperor Karl VI, the father of Maria Theresa. Today it is a beautiful school and the grounds are now used for recreational use including: football pitches, sport grounds, beach volleyball and tennis courts.
The school is centrally located in Vienna with the famous sights only a walk away or within easy reach on public transport. The school residence is also located on campus.
Students practice grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and oral comprehension in systematically structured lessons. Emphasis is placed on language in real-life situations outside the school, using communication and language games and students work in groups and pairs.
Students of similar age are divided into the following age groups for language study and for social and cultural activities:
This is attained with the help of teaching materials that have been specially designed and developed for each age group.
Three meals are provided daily in the residence refectory. International dishes (and Austrian specialties) are served at mealtimes.
Example Menu:
There is self-service at all meals and you can go back for extra helpings. If a student requires a vegetarian or specialty diet, please indicate this when booking.
NOTE: Students may only leave the school premises with the written permission of parents or legal guardians and house rules must be obeyed. The school must be informed of any health conditions requiring special attention or special diets at time of enrollment.
Room allocations are announced on the day of arrival. Special wishes regarding roommates would be taken into account. Students of the same age but different nationalities are placed together. Approximately 150-200 students can stay in this residence at one time.
Note: We regret that we are unable to offer accommodation to parents on campus.
