French courses for all French language skill levels can be booked at the summer camp in Nice for 2, 3 or more weeks from June through August.

At our supervised summer camp program, we offer French courses on a supervised campus with a full program of chaperoned activities & tours. During the French summer camp program, participants stay with a host family in Nice or at our downtown residence and their meals are included.

The French Courses at the Teenagers Abroad Summer Camp Program in Nice include airport transfers (arrival Sunday, departure Saturday), insurance, emergency & pre-departure support, as well as a bilingual staff with a 1:12 staff to student ratio.
Summer Program Overview
As the capital of Côte d’Azur, the beautiful city of Nice is the fifth largest city in France. Nice offers sparkling seas, Provencal pleasures, a wealth of fine architecture and culture.
Nice is a popular tourist destination because of its fantastic location between the Alps and Italy’s Gulf of Genoa. Not to mention, Nice lies on the western end of the Riviera on the Mediterranean coast! Just about everywhere you go in Nice, you’ll find interesting ruins, historical museums, boutiques and cafes. The cafes provide an unique atmosphere, as they are occupied by 17th & 18th century weathered buildings. Streets are often crowded with people shopping at the outdoor markets in the Venetian-style squares.

Language Classes & Program Overview
The Teenagers Abroad Summer Camp Program's language school offers students the following course options for French Courses in Nice:
• Standard French Courses:
>> 4 lessons per day
• Intensive French Courses:
>> 6 lessons per day
Our French Summer Camp Program includes:
• Class size: 15 Students max. (average 12)
• French Courses for all language levels - starting on Mondays
• Teachers are qualified & native speakers of French
• Language certificate or academic credit given at the end of the program
International Student Body of the French Courses in Nice:
We expect that 89% of students attending our Teenagers Abroad Summer Camp Program's French courses in Nice will be non-native English speakers, with 80% of them coming from around Europe and 9% from other countries. The remaining 11% will be English native speakers from North America and/or the UK.
Number of students attending the French courses in Nice:
Based on 2008 attendance records, we expect that the French courses in Nice will have the following number of students each week during the following months: June 70 -80 / July 180 - 200 / August 160 - 180. The other months of the year are expected to have significantly less students per week.
Receive Academic Credit:
It is possible to receive transferable credits from Brookhaven College for the French courses in Nice (if required). Students are requested to register for academic credits a minimum of 8 weeks before the program’s start date.

A typical day during our Summer Camp Program includes:
• Breakfast: 8:30 - 9:30am
• French Courses: 9:30 - 12:30pm
• Lunch*: 12:30 - 2:00pm
• Organized sports, activities, workshops, etc: 2:00 - 4:00pm
• Free/ leisure time: 4:00 - 7:00pm
• Evening meal/ evening activities: 7:00 - 11:00pm
• Lights out: 11:00pm
* Intensive French Courses conitinue through lunch
“CURFEW RULES”
Nightly Curfew: 11:00 pm.
Students may go out with a group leader (minimum group size is 3 students). Students may also go out, in groups of 3 or more, without a group leader; however, they must return to their accommodations by 8:00pm. When with a group leader, students must return to their accommodations by or before the curfew time of 11:00pm, unless they are participating in a tour or activity organized by the school. Regardless of age, NO other exceptions will be made!

After Class "Activities & Excursions"
The supervised summer camp activity program includes:
• Daily activities & sports programs
• Daily evening activities
• Weekly half-day excursions
• Weekly full-day excursions
• Optional weekend excursions
The French summer camp program in Nice provides participants with sufficient time every day after their French courses are finished to learn more about the France, its culture, traditions, customs and everyday life.
Students also have the chance to make new international friends, experience cultural activities with their classmates and most importantly, practice their newly acquired French language skills.

Travel & Arrival Information
Arrival airport: Nice
There is an international airport located just 20 minutes outside of Nice. The airport has direct flights to/from Paris, as well as train connections to multiple European cities.
Please Note: Paris has more than one airport. Therefore, when connecting on to Nice, we urge you to take caution to avoid switching airports between flights.
Passports / Visa / Length of stay:
Students are responsible to arrange for the necessary visas, passports and permits needed to study abroad.

Flights:
Students are responsible to make all flight arrangements for travel to/from the summer camp in Nice.
Upon arrival at nearest airport to the summer camp program in Nice, one of our qualified airport chaperones will meet the student and take him/her to their accommodations.

Summer Camp Testimonials
"My three weeks in Nice was incredible!
I had chosen this program with the hope that I would be more prepared for the upcoming year of AP French, but I ended up getting so much more. Not only did I learn MORE French than I had anticipated, I was able to apply what I learned in class by interacting with some of the locals (les Nicois!) also.
The classes were challenging, but a lot of fun, and we had plenty of free time in the afternoon to go to the beach, shopping, or sightseeing after classes had ended for the day. Some nights, we had planned events, like a discotheque, but others, we could explore the city with a few friends, or hang out at the residence.
The activities planned for us were great! They are so varied from day to day that there is always something for us to do. My favorite activities were going to the outdoor cinema to watch a movie, going to the discotheques, and going to other nearby cities (Antibes, Cannes).
Be sure to try everything at least once and take advantage of the fact that you are in an unfamiliar environment by stepping a little bit outside of your comfort zone. Be sure to take a lot of pictures too because you'll definitely want to look back and remember everything about your trip!
