Safety & security when attending
a program abroad

All of our camps and schools make it their priority to tend to the personal safety and security of the young people attending their programs. Most activities take place on the campus in a restricted environment. The only exception are formal excursions organized and accompanied by an appropriate number of camp staff.

All sports activities are supervised by trained staff and a constant staff-to-camper ratio is maintained. The exact ratio varies depending on the age of the particular camp group and the activity undertaken.

Our camps meet the security requirements established by the local authorities. Throughout the duration of the program, all participants are under the jurisdiction of the national legal system of the host country and are not permitted to drive a car or operate any motorized vehicles, regardless of age.

The camp staff are all trained to care for the needs of young, international campers and possess the necessary educational and safety training required for the job. The staff is also evaluated on a continuous basis throughout the camp session.

The personal, educational and professional references are checked for all camp and school personnel well before they are hired. If a student has a concern, they should take it to their School or Camp Director right away. The senior campus staff speak several languages and your child will be understood.

The safety regulations and guidelines for the individual camps will vary depending on several factors. These factors include: the location of the camp (urban or rural setting), the age of the participant and whether the accommodation is on the campus in a residence or off campus with a Host Family.

All our host families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. We also require that they live within a reasonable distance of the school, have ample living space and live in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

Specific campus or school safety information will be included in the pre departure information which all participants and their families will receive prior to departure.

We also suggest that you read the Program Guidelines and Restrictions Section on this web site for more information regarding general camp restrictions and rules that all participants are required to follow.
