Our Teenagers Abroad summer camp programs are supervised at 3 different levels. We offer everything from fully supervised campus programs to completely independent unsupervised programs for teenagers. Regardless the amount of supervision, the purpose of the summer camp program is to study abroad, learn languages, and have the experience of a lifetime!
Below are the 3 study abroad, summer camp program, supervision levels that are offered by Teenagers Abroad:
We offer complete staff involvement in our Summer Youth Camps. These camps are designed specifically for teenagers. Our biggest concern is safety; therefore, supervision is a key feature of our summer camps. Most of our camps have residences or dormitories that allow for teenagers to dine and sleep in shared accommodations.
• Level of Supervision: HIGH
• Accommodations: Private Campus/ Residence
• Travel to/from School: None
• Staff Availability: Live w/ students on campus
• Off-campus Allowance (Under restriction age): Not Allowed
• Off-campus Allowance (Over restriction age): May leave with written permission of parent or guardian
• Curfew Time: Varies based on location
Comments: Supervised Summer Camps are ideal for younger students, particularly those under the age of 14. This program offers the highest level of supervision. Therefore, it may be too restrictive for many older teen students.
The following Summer Camp Programs are supervised at this level:
• French Courses in Montreal
• German Courses in Oberwesel
We offer complete staff involvement in our Youth Immersion Programs; however, since the program is not held on an enclosed campus, supervision is less. Typically, students will have the choice of living in a residence or a host family. Therefore, teen students may be expected to travel to & from school independently. Depending on which accommodation is chosen, students will either use the city’s public transportation system or walk to school.
During the day, in language classes and any organized afternoon activities, our staff supervises the participants. Students may be allowed to go out, during evening leisure time, in small groups with limited or no supervision. All students must return to their accommodations by the set curfew time
• Level of Supervision: MODERATE
• Accommodations: Off-Campus Residence or with Local Host Family
• Travel to/from School: Public Transportation (may be required)
• Off-campus Allowance: May leave without written permission of parents or guardians
• Curfew: Varies based on location
Comments: Youth Immersion Programs are designed for mature students (age 15+). Students should also be teenagers who are independent thinkers that enjoy and can handle independence. There will be significantly less individual supervision after class, on the weekend, and while traveling to and from school.
The following Summer Camp Programs are supervised at this level:
• Spanish Courses in Barcelona
• Spanish Courses in Playa del Carmen
• French Courses in Montreal
• French Courses in Nice
• German Courses in Frankfurt
• English Courses in Toronto
• English Courses in Brighton
• English Courses in London
• English Courses in Devon
• English Courses in St. Julians
• English Courses in St. Paul's Bay
We offer Individualized Teen Programs that are unsupervised with minimal staff involvement. Ideal participants for this program are teenagers (age 16+) who are confidence and independent travelers. These teenagers can join one of our adult programs, which have no supervision, no curfews and no organized activities for teenagers. We offer a very wide variety of locations for our unsupervised program.
• Level of Supervision: NONE
• Accommodations: Off-Campus Residence or with Local Host Family
• Travel to/from School: Public Transportation (may be required)
• Off-campus Allowance: May leave without written permission of parents or guardians
• Curfew: None
Comments: Individualized Teenager Programs are designed for only very mature students that are at least 16 years old. Participants must be well-travelled, independent thinkers. Students should enjoy and be able to handle not being supervised. They must also have the ability to study with adult students, travel to and from school, and be alone after classes and on the weekends.
The following Summer Camp Programs are supervised at this level:
• Currently, there are no language courses offered by Teenagers Abroad with this level of supervision.
